but I did weigh, shave, get a gift, make it to the wedding, and do some kitchen clean up. Only a little.
Wedding party was a blast, the ceremony got on my last nerve.
Worst Wedding Music EVER. Why do these totally borderline singers always pick the most difficult stuff to sing and then pitch it about a tone and 1/2 higher than their natural voice range. There is this one piece, themed to the "whither thou goest" passage from Ruth, which I have heard at a good many weddings over the years. It is an absolutely horribly scored piece of music, nearly impossible to sing if you are a GOOD singer and a catastrophe if you are marginal. She also butchered "Pannes Angelicus" which is a beautiful song, and I personally know about 20 young women who could sing it perfectly when they were 15 16 or 17 years old, because I heard them in my own church's youth choir.
really irritating minister; my youngest brother in law was the groom, and he and the bride had both been married and divorced. She is Catholic and he is converting so they wanted to marry in her church ..except the official dissolution stuff did not come through the diocese in time so the bishop wouldn't sanction the ceremony in a Catholic church. Well, my Very Southern Baptist Sister In Law stepped in and got her minister to do the service in her church ...one of the other brothers in law attends that church as well. Pretty little church nice setting. They need some one to teach the organist how to calibrate the organ ..it was FLAT.
But the vocalist should have gone AWOL. And the minister acted like he was trying to scare them into staying married. Having recently attended a very dignified and formal service of marriage in my own Methodist church I just thought how different the two services were. And I was very irritated. But the couple didn't seem to mind, and they were just glad to get a ceremony scheduled the same day as the party they had already paid for LOL.
And it was a FINE party too. She is Mexican American, with a huge extended family and many friends, and we had a Latino DeeJay and everybody danced, and danced, and danced. It was fun, and I want her brother to give me dance lessons and her sister to teach my husband, so we can learn to do them. Lots of Latin style dancing and very good dancers too, even the young men (I was told a couple of the teenage boys were practicing for an upcoming quincinera party; these youngmen were dancing with all the aunties and grandmothers, working their moves.). I hope we get to go to some other event involving dancing with her family.
