Oven problem: Can you help? |
|
We had some electrical storms with a power outage. All was corrected within a few hours but the oven, a Whirlpool ceramic top, self-cleaning oven, is now locked. It locked itself somehow during the outage. The stovetop works fine. The touchpads don't do a thing (none of the displays work since the power outage) and I cannot figure out how to get the darn thing unlocked and useable again.
Any suggestions short of calling a repairman?

1. Maybe unplug it and plug it back in. |

Maybe it needs a reset.
I wish I knew how to help.
Good luck getting it working again.

Maybe unplugging it might reset it but I tend to think a surge probably ruined something. My old stove did the opposite..a surge did in the clock(non led type) which controls the timer/cleaning etc. I can still bake but I can't clean the oven or use the timer.
Maybe there's some type of fuse that burnt out for your oven controls.
edited to add: I did some googling. Found a manual for a different brand that said it may need resetting after a power outage. It said to disconnect power for at least 15 seconds. Another forum had complaints..again a different brand of oven. That lady had to have a repair man out for her wall oven because every time the power went out her oven door also locked.
