Found a kitten trapped today
We have a pool at our mobile home park, and since it's been so oppressively hot lately, we've been taking Brendan swimming every evening for the past 3 days. Tonight as we were leaving the pool, I heard a kitten crying loudly near some parked cars. I looked and looked but couldn't find her, although it seemed like her crying was coming from under the hood of a small sports car parked there. I was ready to call 911, fearing that there was a kitten trapped under the hood, when I saw her wriggling free near the front tire. A little bitty head popped out from under the car, and she made a beeline for my arms. The poor thing had obviously climbed up under that car and then couldn't figure out how to get back out. She was shaking and crying, and none of the other people at the pool had ever seen her before, so we brought her home with us.

She seems to be well-fed and taken care of, although she was covered in engine grease and needed a bath pretty badly. She's been purring and cuddling like crazy ever since we got home with her. We made up a big printed sign to hang on the bulletin board near the mailboxes of our mobile home park, saying that we'd found a multicolored female kitten, and giving our phone number. I'm not giving her to anyone who can't identify her without seeing her first, though--she has a few personality quirks that are evident rather quickly after "meeting" her, and anyone who's spent more than an hour around her should be able to identify them correctly. If nobody claims her, we'll be looking for a new home for her.

She appears to be roughly 10-12 weeks old, is a total tortoiseshell in color, and is very clingy, affectionate, and VOCAL! We shouldn't have a problem finding her a good forever home.

No kitten thread is complete without pics, so here you go! I wish they were better shots, but I had trouble getting her to sit still--she wanted to wind herself around my hands and rub up against me constantly. :)

7. Well, it's entirely possible that her family is worried about her
and is wondering where she is. If that's the case, they'll see our sign and call. If not...at least she's safe now. :)

10. She's sweet
I, too, have a tortie, but she doesn't talk much. She spends all her time hunting bugs and being really really fuzzy.

12. That's a beautiful tortie girl you have there.
A cutie. Did you feed her? Torties are smart little things.

Maybe put in a call to the police dept or local animal shelters that you found her. She could have a microchip identifying who her owner is. Someone may be looking and she may have hitched a ride to your area.

14. I'd take her in a heartbeat if I wasn't in Nevada
I want a clingy kitty. We have two cats now and they are just not that affectionate, they are sweet and I love them dearly but they are nothing like my deceased kitty boy, who was very attached to me. :(

16. What a sweetie.
It's possible the she belongs to the owners of the car. She could have crawled up into the engine compartment. If they only drove a couple of blocks before stopping the engine wouldn't have gotten that hot.

She is one lucky critter. Good for you for taking her in.

17. Thank God for people like you!
Too often, people get caught up in their own lives and don't notice (or choose not too) the lives avound them. The kitty needed you and who knows, at some point, you or yours might need her.

She's very cute and I hope eveything works out well! :-)

18. Aw.
She reminds me of my late tortie. So cute!

I hope you find the owner. They're probably missing her. On the other hand, if no one shows up, it seems like you've got a nice new affectionate companion.
