Just found out my future son in law is a victim of identity theft |

he has a cc with a 10K limit
some one planned a 6K vacation on his card......
the CC company told him it was probably pay pal.....
be careful.......

That means, statistically, it's gotta happen A LOT. I've stopped using it, and closed out the cc account I used on it. If I make any kind of purchase, it's a one time usage--not an ongoing account, like PayPal.

I just choose to use my credit card directly. I know the account number is still out there in cyberspace somewhere, but it isn't automatically entered into an account page, as with paypal. I have a parishioner--a really nice, retired railroad worker--lose $7500 thanks to PayPal phishing. His bank (the card issuer) was really helpful, but it was hell for him. I closed my PayPal account after that.

Phishing is the worst and some of those sites are very cagily made...
Of course, if a server gets hacked then it's all over; but the banks' and stores' security people would be fired, to say the least, if that were to occur.
