Main street has been evacuated and the bomb squad has been brought in.

http://www.10nbc.com/

While coming back from a picnic we saw all the hub bub, and were detoured around Main Street. It's like a carnival atmosphere uptown with everyone out just beyond the barriers. All the TV crews are there with the big satellite thingamabobs on the roof.

Terra in a small town. :scared:

I shouldn't joke about it, but I'm sure it's just someones package that they accidentally put down and walked away from.

2. Who knows
We were known as a great flour mill town in the day.

It has all the feel of a circus atmosphere with more fire departments than I could even count.

News conference coming soon.

3. NOOOooooooOOOO SAVE THE JELLO!

Sorry. I suppose I should be more serious about stuff like this, but I think we're all a little too tightly wound about all this terra stuff. What terra-ist in their right mind would pick poor little LeRoy anyway? Knaa'msayin'?

Anyway, hope everything's okay up the road, GenDem.

4. I know .....
I was chuckling as we were detoured around the yellow crime scene tape to get home, but even funnier was that the entire town was grouped up beyond the danger zone. It was like festivus. Reminiscent of the many big fires from the 60's that I remember as a kid.

A woman mailing a letter found it on a mailbox outside Tompkins Insurance on Main Street. She reported it to police.

Firefighters also responded. They evacuated the area, including a nearby McDonald's and a pizzeria. New York State Police sent in their bomb unit. The package was wrapped in tape, it had screws and nails sticking out of it. Police determined it was not an explosive.

All back to normal, now.

5. D'oh! Now that's funny
Potential explosive masquerading as package...usually equals...stay away from potential explosive...Nahhh. Let's go check it out! Mabel, get the popcorn!

After I saw your post, I went to the R News site and saw that story. I immediately called bullshit, but then again, I'm terribly cynical!

Glad Jelloville is still standing, though. :hi:
