My grandparents had this great room with all my dad and aunt's old toys from when they were kids. They had a can of pick-up sticks we'd get out all the time.

And carroms. I loved carroms.

4. I wonder if kids would play that game today.
Today I was talking with a neighbor, and how fun the game was.

All the game was a bunch of plastic sticks.

11. Nice picture.
They were just baby teeth.

Y'all had that cool swing, I am going to build one.

12. Thanks
I was 7 in that pic, so I guess so (I was a small 7 year old). To be honest, I completely blocked out the losing teeth part of my childhood! :scared:

That swing was cool. It was at my Grandmother's house. :hi:

16. I have plans to build it but never the time.
My Grandparents had two swings on the front porch.

Well, one was a glider type.

My Grandfather built both.

10. Not old, but maybe crippled if you stepped on any of them
Remember how they USED to make them out of metal?

That was one game my Mom could count on me to pick up every time without fail!

24. Hey, Lisa! How's it going?
I'd been wondering about you lately. I'd run across a thread on here of yours where somebody had been kind of mean to you (in Real Life) and you were talking about wanting to get out of where you are...

I'd been wondering how you are doing, and asked Kev just last week if anyone at the office had heard from you lately! Please tell me you are doing ok? If not, I'll have to do a road trip and come up there to smack somebody around for you!

Laura

PS, We are all fine. Material Girl is back in school again (5th GRADE!) after a summer of volunteer work at CCHCC. We (the pseudo adults) are doing fine too. Busy, but fine!

25. Things are better.
Not great, but better. They were pretty shitty there for a while. Still some hurt feelings floating around--mine and others'. But things are settling back down. I've been thinking I should go down for a visit one of these days. I haven't been to C-U in a long time.

9. We had a lot of cheap games.
We liked to play Battle with this huge deck of cards, must have been 300 cards.

We could keep a game going all day.

15. Sure! Long summer days on the porch with my girlfriends and ...
an A.M. radio, playing pick-up-sticks, and jacks with a golf ball (personally marked of course) - golf balls bounce way better than those cheap rubber balls, especially for picking up cherries and around the world. Wanna play?

27. Aw, we didn't keep each others jacks. I did have a great collection...
of marbles from playing with the boys. We even played during school recess, but I quit playing marbles with the boys after I got an ant, yes an ant, in my panties. Went back to class and got in trouble for scooching all around in my seat. When the teacher asked what was wrong, "Do you have ants in your pants?" I had to say Yes.

The school playground had "painted-on" foursquares, but at the park and at home, we drew our own with chalk.

Good times.

Those were worse than a Nylon Spatula--and THAT says it all!
