Blazing burning heat, fire from the sky
On the workman's sweaty and scarred back
While his hands spasm painfully
Against the dried splintered handle of the rusty shovel
Muffled mournful groans aid his effort
Stinging sweat like needles in his eyes
His work and torment is his being

His vision lightens his load
Transports him and relieves his endless suffering
Walking to him...
A woman with a child's eyes
A white flowing dress...
She's smiling and holding a flower
That explodes silently with beauty
She walks a happy dog
Her soft creamy fingers lightly on the leash
And he stops, stands up straight and proud
And watches her move...

He sucks in his stomach
Wishes for a shower
Would give anything for a toothbrush
And some clean clothes
But it's too late
She's next to him
"I know you" she says
"I don't know myself" he says
She takes his hand, squeezes it hard
Still squeezing, her expression changes
This lovely woman
Trying to look hard and forceful, not succeeding
Come with me! she says...
Where we going?
I'm going to bathe you
Tend to your slivers, treat your cuts, comb your hair, and shave your beard

And then you will protect me, she says
In return, I will comfort you
So come with me...
