Have you given up your landline?
Maybe it's my age. I just can't bring myself to cancel my Vonage line. I have RoadRunner and VOIP for the phone. I pay $25/month for Vonage and used 185 minutes last month. To change to the $14/month play, they want to hit me with a $10 plan change fee. Logic says let it go, but I can't seem to do it.

I *do* use Vonage to call my sister in the UK for no additional charge.

1. nope
I don't get very good cell reception at home, so the landline is what I use when I'm home.

If the power goes out, though, I'll have to go outside and talk on the cell. My landline is through the cable and requires a modem.

5. No.
I pay £10 a month to keep it for almost no reason, but I can't quite give it up. It's there for my mum to ring me on (calling my cell would be more expensive for her) and also for emergency should the cell be out of action for whatever reason.

6. Same here
My parents call me on it and I use it for outgoing calls. I can't make international calls on my cell and my sister isn't able to call me due to the cost.

7. Traditional POTS, yes!
I haven't used it since I've had a cable modem and VOIP, since I work from home several days a week, it's critical. I use my cell sparingly.

8. My OP isn't correct
technically I don't have a landline. But I can't disconnect the phone with a cord to the router. ;)

10. I have it just for local calls
But why not change to the 14 plan. In two months you'll make back the 10

18. Yep.
Me & Florida are like oil & water. The ONLY thing I dig is my bike spinning class. Other than that, I spend most of my time writing.

What are you up to?

17. Haven't had a landline in 2 years
And now I have Sprint wireless broadband for my internet, so I'm currently totally wireless. I think I need to get cable, though... :-)

20. I'm trying to get to 50 without ever having had a cell phone.
And I may just continue not to do so even after. Maybe I'm just from the old school that associated cell phones and pagers with doctors and drug dealers back in the '70s. Maybe it's because my next door neighbours and several of my friends all have trouble with their cell phones -- misplacing them, forgetting to charge the batteries, bad reception, having to pay for incoming calls, basically stuff you don't have to worry about with a landline. Oh, yes, and when they forget to recharge, and because they've decided not to get voicemail, it's impossible to contact them, which in my mind kind of defeats the purpose of anyone having a cell phone, which is to be in constant contact with, well, me.

23. I bought the cheap Vonage plan at the beginning, since I"m not a great
phone talker.

What keeps me from going to a cell-phone only life is that I keep forgetting to 1) charge the damn cell phone or 2) turn it on after I've turned it off at movies or concerts.

24. No, I still prefer it to the cell phone
And it works even when the power goes out.

I have a cell phone but I use the land line more.
