bad breath doesn't necessarily mean dental problems. Get kitty a full check up!

4. There is a connection between bad breath/teeth |
|
And heart disease. Seems the germs which cause gingivitis also damage the heart if left untreated long enough.
Take your kid to the vet and get his teeth cleaned. It does more than make his breath better.
Also, stop with the soft food (canned food) and focus more on a complete dry meal replacement. There are many complete and nutritious dry foods out there for cats. (And btw, IAMS is not complete).

I'll have her checked out. Friends who have had many more cats than I have told me how their cats teeth went bad -like wincing while chewing dry morsels. My girl doesn't eat canned food - only dry. I had wondered if some tartar buildup might be the cause of the odor.

One of my cats gets impacted anal glands. When they get that way she scoots and licks her butt a lot. Blech! The vet calls it butt breath.
I vote with the tooth problem crowd, though. Are her gums red? Do you see any tartar? Good luck at the vet... let us know what happens.
