Anyone here been to Lassen Volcanic NP?
I've decided to head that way for my road trip. It looks like there's some interesting stuff in that direction and it will allow me to circle around and return home from another route (I hate going the same way twice).

If you've been there, I'd love to hear about it. :hi:

1. It is nice. be prepared to hike
If you wanna get away....there is one road through the park. It goes to all the higlights, the sulpher pots, the lakes etc.

The hike to the top of Lassen is doable.

Not sure of your itnerary. but Shasta is much more interesting. McCloud falls. Burney Falls and Shasta is so MOJO.

4. Have a wonderful time!
It's my favorite area of California. We camped in the Lassen National Forest, but hiked around in the park, too. Also, Mt. Shasta is in my top five of favorite places in the U.S. I hiked on Shasta on my 50th birthday :-).

Looking forward to seeing you post about your trip :hi:.

7. Yes!
We have a vacation house up near Lassen and spend much time canoeing on the lakes and hiking the trails. I've been going up there for over 30 years and love it. It's beautiful and not at all crowded.

This is Lassen Peak at sunset from Lake Almanor.

This is Kings Creek which is a beautiful hike right off the main road inside the park.

This is also in Lassen Park from a hike off Juniper Lake.

Check with the park ahead of time. They are doing roadwork this summer on 89 through the park itself. THere may be delays if they are still working on it.

12. Wow, those are gorgeous photos!
It seemed like a place that wouldn't be crowded and that really appealed to me. And thanks for the heads up about the road work. :hi:
