5. subwoofer recommendation

www.svsound.com

They only do internet sales, and therefore are less expensive than almost any other subs out there that sell at brick & mortar outlets.

I have one of their lower end subs - the 2039 PCI. And I love it! My wife is even a convert now. I think that their subs have a relatively high SAF (Spouse Approval Factor) as well. The cube subs in hardwood are gorgeous, and the cylinder subs like I have have the advantage of much lighter weight than the cubes.

With a 5.1 Dolby Digital surround system and a 50" Panasonic hanging on the wall, I get a better audio experience then I do at the local movie house, and the visuals are almost as good.

Have fun! And don't forget to use an SPL meter to calibrate your sound system to your room! This makes a HUGE difference in the sound!

7. WOOHOO!
Next step, if you haven't already done it, get a TiVo HD and two cable cards from your cable company! Mine keeps me fed with wonderful hi-def content, now I just need to upgrade to a bigger hard drive so I can record more than 20 hours of TV (Good Eats with Alton Brown is even scarier in HD).
