Poll question: How many books, on average, do you read in a year?
I'd say I read about 5. It would be more, but I'm generally a slow reader.

2. What are you currently reading?
I'm still reading Gore's The Assault On Reason. Not sure I agree with him on the cause of 9/11, but the rest of the book makes great points.

11. That's actually on my list.
Though I just finished Maxed Out (about the CC industry), Time Out of Joint (Philip K. Dick), and Shutter Island (Dennis Lehane).

Right now, I'm reading Walter Mosley's "Bad Boy Brawly Brown."

6. I've never really thought to count, but probably 2-3 a week, so more than 100
Some weeks I read more (especially if I'm reading a lot of thin books), some weeks less (depending on vacation and/or book size and/or workload), but I imagine I average between 2 and 3 a week.

18. I read that much until I was introduced to the computers and the internets
Today, I read about 30-40 a year, mostly fiction.

13. 100+

I always have at a minimum 1-3 books going at any one time. Reading is my addiction. I also read daily with my 9 year old son.

20. If I read as much as I listen to music, I'd be that high
LOL. But seriously, books are close to music for me in terms of enjoyment.

17. A couple dozen
I usually have two books going at the same time, one fiction one non-fiction.

But some of the fiction are re-reads of old favorites.

19. Well, i read an average of 5 or 6 books a week.
So that puts me between 250 and 300 books a year. I'm counting re-reads, though. Does that matter?

21. Roughly 100
Way back in 1975, I started writing the titles down out of curiosity, with a little rating. (yeah, I know it's my dumb guilty secret - luckily, I'm the only one who knows;-)) It's interesting to see how my tastes have changed.

22. I need to recommend my brother do that.
He reads a lot of crime/thriller fiction and science fiction, and at least 2x a month I hear "crap! I've already read this!"

23. I have a friend who has done that...
since she graduated college. She's got a stack of notebooks filled with what she's read over the years. She won't let me sneak a peak at any of them.

I read a lot, but it's never occured to me to make a list.

28. I used to keep lists of the books I read, quit doing it for some reason
but I average a book a week. I have 9 hours in which I can't read, because I am at work or in the car, but I get 30 minutes a day on treadmill, and then I sometimes read at home at night or on the weekend. But I do a lot of this and play video games, and cook, and shop, and go to church.

29. I read 5 or 6 over summer break, but fewer during the school year.
Just too tired at night and too much to do. So, I checked 6-9. Non-fiction takes longer to read, though.

30. Do repeats count?
I haven't had a chance to get to the library for a while, so I've just been rereading the books on my shelves the last year or so. Still, I read damn fast and I read before I go to bed every night... so if repeats count, probably up in the 100+ range. If not, then it's more like the 40-50 range.
