Far superior to the Anthony Hopkins ham-and-cheese Lecter movies that followed, IMO.
It had an awesome soundtrack, too, and it's a crying shame that it's not available on CD.

20. I have the wax platter version - it is pretty awesome. |
|
There's a couple of clams in there - Red 7? - but overall it's pretty great stuff.

19. I haven't seen the movie since I was in the theater... |
|
But, as soon as I saw the thread title, the Iron Butterfly song started going through my head.

15. Yeah, Red Dragon was such a waste of a really great cast. |
|
Maybe they should have given it to a real director or something.
I'm not too crazy about Manhunter either though. Mann was still too aesthetically tied to Miami Vice or something. Cox was a great villain though, and the Iron Butterfly scene was a classic.

If anyone makes me watch Manhunter again, I'll glue them to a wheelchair and bite their lips off.

I got into them my freshman year of college in 85-86 with their "Oil & Gold" album... one of my favorite albums of all time.
