A friend of mine went to a wedding in Utah where many witches and warlocks attended. |
|
The men wore kilts and the women wore long dresses. There was some beer drinking, but it was a pretty quiet affair.

2. I went to a pagan wedding a while ago... |

for a wiccan friend of mine from work. It wasn't announced as pagan wedding because of some religious relatives on both sides of the family, instead it was just advertised as an 'old-fashioned' wedding. :)
No kilts, but the best man was wearing a horse-tail. Not sure the exact significance, they're wiccan which means they tend to pick and choose bits of things that they like from various pagan religions. They also did a thing where the couple jumped over a sword, to symbolise 'cutting away' any of the bad things that might plague their marriage, and then they jumped over a broom to 'sweep away' all the bad bits that had been cut off. The best man was the one wielding the sword, and he was a rather large, imposing guy. Add on to that the pre-medieval looking leather outfit, a rather large sword, and the fact that he's got tattoos up the wazoo... well, let's just say that he was the one guy at my job who I would NEVER have picked a fight with. Because he's one of the few people who I know for CERTAIN could kick my ass if we ever fought. :)
Just as a joke, when it came down to the 'speak now or forever hold your peace' bit, the best man hefted up his rather large sword and GLARED at the audience, as if to say, "I dare you to..."
It's also the only wedding I've ever been to that had both homebrewed wine and storebought mead. I've been to a wedding with homebrewed wine and beer before, but never storebought mead.
