I shop where I get the best bang for my buck. We have a Krogers and a Super WalMart in my town, and when I can get the better buy at wal mart you better believe I am going there. Krogers is over priced on several items and we only go there if they have something that wal mart doesnt carry.

I the bank I use has a branch in our wal mart so convience is a great thing, they also carry our dog/cat food cheaper than anyplace else, I could go on. Shoot I even picked up a phone charger for my cell for 7 bucks cheaper than thru verizon.

I try to avoid it but getting to a Target or similar involves 20 miles of fuel one-way. I do the best I can.

5. I'm in there a lot

Not so much for myself (although I do pick up some stuff while I'm there), but because I often take my in-laws on their weekly grocery outing. The prices overall aren't that good. I've found several items that seem to be priced lower but are really just sold in smaller packages. They also tend to have a higher percentage of processed and junk food and weird off brands than other stores.

21. Seriously? I check their ball prices on occasion, and don't really see

a difference between them and the local pro shops. I'll always buy at the local shop in that instance, just to keep the money within the local economy, so to speak. Now a couple of years back when I was living in a little town with one municipal golf course with a limited selection and no actual "pro shops" in the area, I would purchase balls at W-M as they were unfortunately "the only game in town" for many items.

10. Just got back from there about 15 minutes ago

Spent $80. The same products elsewhere would have cost about $110, when you add up the higher prices at other stores and the added cost of gas used running all over town.

I'm proud to be a not-too-stupid penny pincher.

19. That's basically my argument, too

To acquire any random assortment of necessary items, I could either drive 50 miles round trip and pay more at ten different stores, or I can go to the Wal*Mart that's 8 miles away and complete my shopping in one stop.

Sorry if this offends any among the passionate anti-W*M crowd, but requiring a consumer to drive farther and to pay more is equivalent to shifting a larger portion of the tax burden to the poor.

Sam's has it for $35.00. $10.00 less than anywhere else.

I bought a ton of food yesterday at Costco to get ready to send them back to school and even though I spent what I thought was a small fortune, I got huge bang for my buck.

We have plenty of stores in the immediate vicinity of all the local Wally Worlds so there's no need. We don't have a Costco, though, so I frequent Target most of the time. However, I have friends who live in the boonies (I'm in a small town conveniently halfway between the boonies and strip-mall hell) and the only thing within 15 miles of them is Wal-Mart, so they go there and get irritated that I won't. :shrug:

22. They're building an 'upscale' WalMart across from my subdivision this year.

Whatever that means. My husband, who used to be a WalMart vendor, says that the food department in an upscale WalMart is second to none in freshness as well as choice.

So, I will probably at least give it a look see when it is open.

I've given up on Target completely, though. Overall, I prefer them but they NEVER have more than 2 checkout lines open. What should be a 10 minute trip ends up taking over an hour, and I just don't have the time for that.

27. I haven't been in about 2 years

I'd like to do without it permanently. One of the last things I got there was a lamp, which ended up not working, so I exchanged it. The replacement lamp only lasted about a year. I'm sorry, but a lamp should last longer that that. Even if I weren't concerned with their corporate practices, low wages, no unions, etc, life is too short and money too tight to spend my hard earned checks on CRAP.

I'm also lucky enough to live in a place with other shopping options. I realize for some people, Wal-Mart is the only game in town.

I hate the place, but live near a small town - all we have is a Safeway and a Wallyworld. When Safeway is charging $10 for a can of coffee, I let the husband go to Wallmart. :rofl:

There is a nice "pilot" Wal Mart in a rich community near us that stocks organic food and microbrews and has a Starbucks and two percent off the tax rate in our county. So, yeah, we go there sometimes to stock up. They are the only store that carries my fave 99 cent Thai Peanut ramen. Sigh.

We won't go to the trashy one 3-4 blocks away from us, though.
It's not so bad to "reward" them as a consumer for improving their business model with the nicer, clean, experimental store, FWIW. They still suck as a company, but we need to support positive gradual change and all that. If that store gets popular, maybe all Wal-Marts won't suck. Yeah, I dream big, lol.

33. I go to WalMart at least once a week for several reasons.

1. We don't have a Target or Costco where I live and few of the other grocery stores in town match WalMart for variety of products and store cleanliness.

2. I use public transport and the bus route passes directly in front of WalMart and going to the other grocery store would mean a walk of at least 2 blocks to and from the bus stop.

3. I can get nearly everything I need at one stop.
