Samuel Smiths IPA vs St. Peter's IPA
St Peter's wins hands down. The SS IPA doesn't even taste like an IPA - more like a yellow pale ale. Hardly any hops...

Whereas the St Peters is much stronger, both in alchohol (10%) and hoppiness. What makes the St Peter stuff good is that it's hopped with European Hops rather than Cascade Hops like most American IPA's are.

If I brewed beer, it would be interesting to get ahold of some European Hops and start blending them with Cascade Hops...or is this done already?

Right now I'm on my first bottle of Ruination IPA from Stone - a real IPA. Fuck, this is what an IPA should taste like!

So Ms GoddessOfGuiness...I will be arriving in Columbia, MD next week. I will be going to a Brewshack called "Frisco's Burritos." They have this list (pretty impressive for a burrito shack): http://www.friscogrille.com/beer.php

What beer(s) would you reccomend for someone pretty much raised on West Coast Brew, who wants to see The Glories of Nor'easter Brew?

3. I've not heard of Frisco's
Looks like a great selection...I'll have to try it!

How far are you willing to drive?

Your best bet is the Dogfish Head pub in Gaithersburg. I've heard their pub food is not as good as the one in Rehoboth, DE, which I love on all counts; but Gaithersburg is a lot closer to Columbia.

While you're out there, Olney isn't far away, and I understand from Seemunkey that they Olney Ale House has a decent selection of brew. And if you're in to Belgians, there's Manequin Pis, which has an impressive selection og brews and food if you have an impressive bankroll.

I haven't visited the Baltimore Brewing Company in quite some time, but I wasn't overwhelmed the last time I was there. Same with Rocky Run, in Baltimore and Columbia.

Fordham Brewing Company in Annapolis isn't bad; but can't compare to Dogfish Head, really.

If you're down in the College Park area, check out Franklin's on Route 1 in Hyattsville. It's a nice, small brewpub with a red ale that I really enjoy...Anarchy Ale. :-)

If I think of more, I'll send you a pm!

14. Definitely go with Dogfish Head...
You can find it in any decent liquor store. The 90 Minute IPA is a good bet. If you're interested in something a little different, sour, and they haven't sold out for the season, you might try the Festina Peche, which is a Berliner Weisse-style beer. :toast:

10. Go down to DC and hit up Brickskellers
http://lovethebeer.com/brickskeller.html

This place has an amazing beer list and always has some great stuff on tap. It's definitely worth the drive down from Columbia.

6. YES!!! In fact I just bought a botle
A liter in fact!

That stuff is TOO FUCKING GOOD!!!

Double IPA, hopped beyond belief

Pickled beyond belief

It's on par with Rogue's Double IPA that goes 12.99 a liter at BevMo

But it's only like 3.99 a liter!
