My Dad has Parkinsons
He just found out. They were concerned that his left hand had increasingly bad "tremors". At first it was manageable but lately they have gotten worse. So he had an MRI done to rule out brain tumors which thank goodness he doesn't have, but still...I'm kinda freaking out. I admit I'm ignorant on the subject, but all I know is this is like the healthiest 69 year old I know, who hikes and bikes everyday, drinks in moderation and has never smoked. And so to hear he is ill just freaks me out a little. Sorry just venting. If anyone has any advice or experience in this matter, would love to hear about it. Thanks.

4. I am so sorry my friend, my wife has that as well, and she is 36
There are a lot of really good websites on this topic and forums. Feel free to PM me or my wife, AutumnMist, if you need more info or want to call and talk to someone.

Tell him our thoughts are with him - and you.

6. Stem cell research is VERY promising on this disease (and some personal observations)
we need a true progressive in the WH to help with this issue (and many others).

My wife has up and down days. Fatigue is a HUGE issue, and lack of sleep - her shaking wakes her up at times, and then she cannot get back to sleep for hours.

Day to day can be rough, and sometimes it can be really normal.

Try not to feel alone in it all (and tell him not to either) - there are many people who have dealt with it, and reading their stories can make ya not feel so alone.

God bless and I hope for the best for you both!

Parkinson's does not care how pretty you are, it just happens. And it sucks.

9. I am so sorry.
I'm worried that I'll have to watch my dad go through that was well. My grandfather, I believe, already has Parkinson's and, while it isn't severe, it IS noticeable. My father has a few very small traits that look like the very early signs of Parkinson's.

Of course, I'm a little worried for myself as well, but that's still a ways off.

Again, I'm sorry for the sad news. I hope you're doing alright.

12. My Dad has Parkinson's
He was diagnosed with it about 3 years ago. He's on some meds which seem to be keeping him afloat right now..ie the disease has not progressed too much. But he still has definitely aged and got frailer since then. You might be interested to know there is some VERY promising gene therapy treatments coming along with Parkinson's..thats actually much closer to being a viable option then stem cells at this point.
