56. Yes!
Cooper's dream sequence, and specifically the way that The Man from Another Place was shown spasming/shuddering with his back to the camera, is about the creepiest thing I've ever seen on tv.

Yikes!

Blink was very scary, but I think the Series 1 episodes with the gas mask zombie kid was even worse.

17. That one gave me the willies too
Even though the show was presented in a "dry", documentary way, it was still terrifying. My imagination would launch into overdrive with thoughts of aliens or monsters--I still remember watching it in my living room as a kid--it was on at 6:30 on Saturday night, and there was nothing freakier than watching it alone as night fell--then I'd look up when the show was over and realize I was in the dark. I'd go tearing through the house till I found a parent or two. Yeesh.

Luckily it was neutralized for a while by the next show on: The Muppet Show! :hi:

15. Absolutely
I still remember seeing the original airing--DH (when he was BF) and I watched it in the dark. Neither one of us said a word, even after it was over. We just sat there clutching each other, frozen. Then, after the credits were long over, we went "EWWWWWWW."

I heard after that that Fox swore they'd never air it as a rerun, and it wasn't rerun for a long time. Have seen it on Sci-Fi since, though, and it still terrifies.

"Ah'm hungreh!" :scared:

13. A single episode of Dragnet
In which Friday and his partner Gannon bust an entire apartment full of pot-smoking hippies. Two of the hippies have a baby girl, and as they're being arrested, the stoned father asks the stoned mother where their daughter is. She thinks for a minute and then remembers that she was giving her a bath. The two detectives run into the bathroom and discover the infant daughter floating face down in the tub, drowned.

That episode gave me nightmares for years. I still haven't gotten over it. It's a major reason why I never got into drugs as I grew up.

But I keep hearing it's a great movie. I need to put that in the Netflix queue.

I saw this episode of Dragnet when it originally aired, back in 1967 or 1968. It was pretty shocking television, for back then.

25. It's quite disturbing
One of those movies you can respect but not love, if you know what I mean. Very visceral and quite ugly most of the time. It sure sticks with you (:scared:). And it has a similar event in it, only due to heroin use.

I'm very surprised that Dragnet tackled that topic in the '60s. That was daring.

inspired by Flaubert's "Saint Julian" are my all time favorite Dragnet episodes.
It stands to reason that Jack Webb would be anti-drug takin' hippies, but I guess he also hated French Lit. Who knew?

52. "Ghost Story"
There was a rerun of it on when I was about 6, and all the adults in the house were excited it was on. They should have sent me outside to play. The episode was about a little boy that lived with his grandmother, and he had an evil doppleganger that would show up when he was alone. The evil boy threatened to kill the grandmother. I don't remember the ending, but I was afraid to be alone in case my evil self showed up.

53. One Step Beyond--the original twilight zone. It was on afternoon syndicate when I was a kid.
The show ran from 59-61 (thanks, Wiki), before I was born, but during the 70s my local tv station showed it in the afternoons, just as I got home from school. Terrified the Hell out of my poor little timid soul.

Kolchak scared me, but in the good that's-why-we-watch-scary-shit way.

54. When I was a kid I saw the episode of the Twilight Zone
in which an ugly woman has had surgery to make her beautiful and her head is wrapped in bandages. The doctors and nurses attending her are seen only in shadows. At the end the bandages are removed and the woman is, indeed, beautiful, but the operation is termed a failure. Only then are the pig faces of the doctors and nurses revealed. Those faces scared the living crap out of me. I had nightmares.

55. Buck Rogers in the 25th Century
OK, I know it's weird. I was a little kid, maybe 7 years old (this was 1980 or thereabouts), and the silly TV show Buck Rogers in the 25th Century was on. Erin Grey's character was blinded by some space ray or other, and she turned around and her eyes were all white, and she was blind. I remember that this terrified the piss out of me. I don't know why, but the idea of losing my vision just hit me right in the gut, maybe for the first time as a child. And I remember being fucked up scared for weeks after that.

I was up late one night watching Adult Swim, and this show came on, and I didn't know what the fuck it was, had never seen it before. That's because it's not a series. There's only one episode, and they were showing it like a movie, but it's only a half hour long.
