Turn off the damn air conditioner already!
Hey, it’s nice that you guys moved in next door. It’s great having a family living in the house after it was vacant for four years, even though your kids are probably the loudest offspring on the planet. Especially the youngest one with the funny name who has a crying jag about 10 times a day. That’s fine—kids are kids. But then you had to go out and buy an air conditioner that was probably used by Thomas Edison. Jesus, it sounds like we live next to a tool and die shop. And if that wasn’t enough, you put it in the side window, about seven feet from our bedroom window. Then you run it all night. Here’s a little hint for you—when it cools down late at night, how about turning the thing off and open a window. It really works great! People have been doing this for centuries and guess what? It doesn’t make any noise!

1. Hi Bif,
I hope you have more success in reaching them
than we did with one of our neighbors.

It's down to 60-63 degrees at night yet
they run the AC continuously!

;(

3. it gets cooler than that up here
and I still have to run it at night because my house holds the heat in from the day. I wake up and it's 75 in the house.

7. That's too hot.

I wouldn't be able to sleep with 75
in the house, either.

2. Do they own or rent?
If they are renting, a note to their landlord about the noise might have an impact.

5. Or you could always ask them about it directly....
I live in a tight knit neighborhood and it seems like people only wanna deal with issues at the association meetings. Hell people, I live 5 feet from your house, just walk over and talk to me!

4. Sorry. Didn't realize it was bothering you.
:P

This must be a cultural thing. If someone turned their AC off here at night, we'd call the police to check and make sure they were alive.

8. Don't feel bad.
If we leave the windows open, and a dog so much as WHINES, the next door neighbor files another complaint.

I hate people.

9. Neighbors suck
I wish I lived twenty miles from anybody, I'm sorely tempted to pile some oily rags up in the corner of the house next door when the current crop of miscreants do their midnight move. This house has really gone downhill, the quality of neighbors keeps slipping, it sounds like you're in the same boat.
