My opinion based upon the stories I've read is that it's a fait accompli, and I think he feels he has no choice in the matter. (Which, by the way, is totally fine with me, FWIW. He's obviously not an effective leader - never has been - and the growing extremism there is a threat to everybody.) eh, what do I know? :D
