I so hate this town. I keep looking for something, anything to help me meet friendly people not talking about church things. Tonight's attempt: yoga class at the Y.

1. Is this your first class there for it?
or have you ever done yoga before?

2. Yeah, it's my first class here. I've taken Iyengar in college
and one other town where I lived. This is Ashtanga, which I've never done before.

3. Well, try not to stress over it ;) and who knows, you might meet some
cool people there to hang out with later.

If not, swing on over to Bakersfield, CA and hang with me and the misses sometime :)

4. Cool! I'll keep that in mind!
I've never been so lonely in my life. In Iowa, I helped to found the Humane Society, and was on the board and fostered kittens for it. Here, the animal shelter is just a shelter--no active board (a violation of their tax exempt status, but who's gonna tell?), no foster program, and only a tiny little group of close friends who started it get asked to do anything.

In Iowa, I was very active in a Birding Group. Here, the only bird club is the Audubon Society, which meets on Sunday mornings. I work Sundays.

In Iowa, I was in the Community Chorale. No such thing here.

In Iowa, I belonged to a GREAT food co-op. Here, the food co-op is made up of honeschooling moms, who won't try to schedule things so that people who work outside the home can participate.

I never had a free minute there. Here, I'm bored to death and lonely as hell. So, I'm not going to stay here long. But I need some non-work related life for however long I'm here.

Otherwise, I'll come to see you :hi:

5. We could use some friends here as well. The wife has one friend here and some family
I don't know anyone really, and have never met anyone from DU in person.

What state are you residing in currently?

Hell if nothing else we can swap #'s sometime, being lonely sucks ass. At least I have the wife and daughter, would go insane without them :)

6. I'm in Illinois.
The pets are a huge help, but a real conversation would be nice once in a while. I go to a dog obedience class because people are friendly, even though I largely disagree wtih the training methods. Only really friendly people I've met here. And interestingly, while it means in the town where I live, all of them travel from other towns to be here. There is something wrong with this place.

Swapping #'s might be okay sometime.

I gotta go. Taking the beg for a quick walk before heading to class.

Btw, is that your wife in your sig? She's pretty?
