Stereolab - Margerine Eclipse
Anyone pick this up yet? Soooo good. Of course I'm highly biased...they can do no wrong, by me.

1. Stereolab for beginners - suggestions?
Since I saw the film High Fidelity, I've been obsessed with their beautiful "Lo Boob Oscillator" on the soundtrack.

Could I persuade you to suggest a CD or two of theirs that would be a good starting point for me, knowing how much I like that specific song? Thanks!

2. Hmmm...toughy.
Their fans are generally split into one of two groups - those who love thier early material, and those who love their later material. I love it all and think you seriously cannot go wrong, but if you love Lo Boob Oscillator (great song indeed), maybe pick up Refried Ectoplasm (which contains that song), or maybe Aluminum Tunes or possibly Emperor Tomato Ketchup. Otherwise I highly recommend their new album (Marerine Eclipse) or the new E.P. (Instant 0 in the Universe)...both of those are among their best.

3. Thanks!
Since I made my post, I've been clicking through the excerpts of the new CD on iTunes, and I really like it. Maybe I'll just start there and work my way backward!

Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 09:52 PM by thebigidea
so I hear they are finally playing live again?

Wonderful all the times I've seen them, delicious overpowering drone & 60s organ...

Dots and Loops!

That diabolical 1st track on Emperor Tomato Ketchup - an even better rendition is on the BBC set...

the absolute best driving music ever created!
