what do you call your telly's remote? . . .
in our house it's - "pass me the clicker, please".
yes, america is certainly dumbing down - starting here at home.
crikey!

it's so funny here - shouts of "where's the clicker" or "pass me the clicker" are always ringing out.
of course, i never used to be this old before, either. maybe it's senility setting in.

8. I can call it anything I want, and it still won't come to me
It's lost somewhere in the house. When it does eventually turn up, I'm going to duck tape my cell phone to it so I can call myself and locate it the next time it decides to go for a walk.

14. 'The Remote'
My ex called it "the clicker." I'd say somethin' like, "I pressed every button on this thing 26 times and nothin' made a click. But we are getting Radio Free Iceland now."

15. hand me "the remote" for the "TV"
I'm from New England, and it was always "the remote" in my extended family. "The box" was always the cable box. The word "clicker" was never used, at least in my recollection.

23. Wife.
She always takes control of the remote, so all requests have to go through her. I think of it as like having a voice-activated remote, rather than being whipped. My ego likes it better that way.

21. No TV, so no remote control. Previously, it has always been "remote" for us, except
when we're playing around, at which time it becomes "the little black box that makes the TV go up and down"

22. I call it MY remote
which is ironic, since it's my roommate's TV. But the button panel is broken, as is the remote that came with it. So one day I got fed up and bought a 5 dollar programmable remote. :)
So my roommate may own the huge widescreen TV that his rich lawyer sister gave to him... but I own the remote.

35. The controller.
It started back when I was a kid and we got our first TV with a remote control. My dad was looking for the remote control and was struggling to think about what it was called and blurted out "air traffic controller!" We started calling it that as a joke, and it eventually shortened to "controller" and it stuck. I still call it that, and so do my husband and kids.

Yeah, even though it has many buttons. I forget how we named it that--probably something MG Jr. was able to say or understand when he was even more of a wee one than he is now.
