Anyone else do Pilates?
I've slacked off doing it since spring, but my butt is dropping.
I need some motivation.
What do you do for a routine, and how often do you do it?

1. I just started last night!
I joined a gym a few weeks ago and have been dragging my feet regarding classes. Especially pilates, since I'd never done it before...I figured I'd make a total ass of myself.

But I went last night, and it was great! I can still feel the muscles we worked (nearly freakin' all of them), but in a good way.

So that doesn't answer your question really, but the gym offers it 2 nights during the week, with yoga the other 3.

Let me see if I can remember how the routine went...

We started with crunch-type exercises--both with the ring and without, with varying degrees of crunch, and with feet/legs in different positions (up, down, bent knee, straight, etc.)

We did some arm work...squeezing the ring to work biceps, etc.

There was some hideous thing that involved doing reverse sit-ups...laying in sit-up position, but instead of sitting up, swinging our legs over our heads. And then holding them there.

Lower abdominal stuff...lifting the ass off the floor while holding the legs straight in the air, in a V

Then we laid on our stomachs and acted like we were swimming...chin up, legs off the floor...breast stroke and then regular swimming form.

We finished with the legs...take the ring and hook it on your foot, straighten the leg, grab the other end of the ring and pull...laying on our sides and lifting the legs off the ground, doing circles with our feet...

...and lots of other stuff that I can't remember at the moment...

:hi:

2. Three times a week
Edited on Fri Aug-31-07 04:13 PM by BarenakedLady
I joined the local gym. They have classes Monday and Wednesday nights and Saturday mornings. I used to do it at home with DVDs but I'm not motivated enough to do it on my own. I really enjoy going and the routines are different every time. I got bored quickly doing the same things over and over using the DVDs. I've really noticed a big difference in my strength and flexibility.

If you are just doing it at home, the Windsor Pilates DVDs are pretty good.
