Do you still go to county fairs?
The Sheboygan county fair is going on right now, but I won't be going, just too expen$ive.
$14 just to get in!

And no decent entertainment either, and I don't like the carny rides.

1. If we go to a local "fair", it's the "Buckwheat Festival" in the neighboring county
5 days of parades, good food, good music, and a temporary amusement park that is unbelievable...

3. Yes, except for last year, but I usually go to the Western Washington Fair
every year (going this year). It's Washington's biggest fair, and I usually have a good time there.

4. yes and no
The "county" fair is held in Calistoga. It's boring, not much there and sort of sleazy. The Town and Country Fair, on the other hand is held at the Napa Fairgrounds and is great. Pretty grounds, lots of exhibits, quilts, veggies, cakes, animals... and if you're into it, the carny rides. (I usually take photos in the carny area.) Can't say if the entertainment at either fair is good or bad since that isn't my schtick. And there are always discount tickets available somewhere.

You might want to volunteer for something: the Democratic booth; the art or produce competitions. Volunteering usually gets you in free.

5. Not as often as I used to.
I really haven't got a need to buy a hot tub or kitchen gadgetry.

And I avoid it like the plague.

Pure and unadulterated backwards-hick hell.

10. Even the food has gotten worse...
And horrendously expensive.

And I swear, even the ice cream is 85% grease.

9. Geez, I thought the OC County Fair's admission was steep at $8.00 each
We did go, but damn, if the food was not marked up like 900%. Granted I know one pays a premium for fair food, but $4.50 for a hot dog?

i had the deep fried twinkie there a few years ago and it was yummy. I wish they have the state fair in October when it's a little cooler.

12. We went last year
But it is small and unintersting compared to the county fair that I grew up with. We ended up not going this year.

19. Yes
I go to the Dade County Fair to eat roasted corn, elephant ears, and corn dogs. Then we go see the pretty animals in the 4-H tents and look at the kids' science projects and art submissions. I can't remember the last time I went on a ride, though.

21. I went to the Great Allentown Fair yesterday and won a DVD player at Bingo! Wheee!!
And I'm going again tomorrow to see the American Idols 6 concert! Yeah, baybay!

All that and curly fries, too! :)

Seriously? I LOVE the 4-H exhibits; the animals (have you ever seen the Frillback Pigeon*?!); the games; the fried foods, fresh lemonade, and real Root Beer; and the free performances.

22. I go to the L.A. County fair about once a year.
Edited on Fri Aug-31-07 07:07 PM by EOO
A good buddy of mine is a volunteer at one of the fair's biggest exhibits.

I also go to the Orange County fair if there's a good concert (this year it was Queens Of The Stone Age. I wanted to see Chris Cornell but I was out of town).
