NY Times yet again today, third time in two months. Ignore. You would hate the Leelanau Peninsula.

I am going to vacation from Sept. 8-15 in a home on Lake Leelanau on the Leelanau Peninsula near Traverse City in Michigan. I just wanted to warn all of you away from visiting there. I may retire there in a few years, but there is no reason to do so. Still, the New York Times has been relentless this summer. I wanted to warn you to fuggedaboutit.

Geez, first it was the award-winning wineries and the cobalt-blue waters. http://travel.nytimes.com/2007/07/13/travel/escapes/13american.html

Then, it was Iron Chef Mario Batali, who could have a place anywhere, talking about his home on the Leelanau Peninsula: http://www.nytimes.com/2007/08/31/travel/escapes/31have...

Now today - for the third time in two months - the New York Times writes about the wonders of Leland, Fishtown and the Leelanau Peninsula: http://travel.nytimes.com/2007/08/31/travel/escapes/31havens.html

Three times in two months. All I can say is - stay away. Ignore those glacier-carved rolling hills and breathtaking views of Lake Michigan on one side and Grand Traverse Bay on the other. And autumn? Forget it.
