We are so totally screwn
Edited on Fri Aug-31-07 10:12 PM by Briarius
and not in a good way... :(

I've just been thinking about the whole climate change thing and how I can't see that we're going to get our shit together to make a damn bit of difference. Hence the comment, we're screwed. But that's not all, we're good at being f-ups! So I guess we should celebrate it...

So let's hear it DU, how are we screwed?

-edited I is gud spelr!

2. We're so screwn....
That I can't sleep at night, and sometimes I feel bad that we are raising a child who is facing one possible hell of a future, and I'll feel like I didn't fight hard enough on her behalf :(

3. Yep
No kids for this guy. Who would want to sentence someone to the total catastrofuck that is to be Earth in 20 years? And no, I'm not egotistical enough to presume my kids could/would do anything about it.

4. totally
The only thing I'm Positive 100% Sure about from now on is that people won't stop fighting and consuming in time to turn their attention to preserving their own future. Lots are turning to religion to give them hope for a way out, because if paradise is the thing to hope for then the actual planet God gave us is expendable.. this doesn't make any sense to me, it's just making me loose hope. And the mass extinction about to happen doesn't matter either.
The lounge isn't the place for me to get heavy though.. and I'm over the edge of Hope, from now on I'm laughing at everyone.. with their silly wars and showy expensive BS :p

7. I laugh..
mostly because I've given up hope but kinda because I feel so powerless too.
Compared to this everything people kill and die for is pointless  it's amazing to me that we think we're so Evolved.. we have computers and rockets wow we can level cities and go to space. But the Earth will make our species pay for not respecting it!

It's the other animals I care about, I've given up on everything but I can't let go of what I feel for them, even if they haven't evolved self-awareness they have souls and histories and stuff. This is the thing that gets to me.
I have to remind myself to laugh though!!! :D

6. the loss of the coast
I have lived within an hour of the beach for most of my life. I don't know that a world without the white sand of the beach is worth living in.Many low lying coastal areas may become a wide expanse of drowned trees and abandoned towns clogged with the debris of many hurricanes. The coasts will become dangerous areas filled with toxic pollution and disease bearing, blood-sucking, insects and the lawless scavengers of a dying civilization. Enjoy the beach while you can, it may become a thing of the past.

Toxic physical environment
Toxic social environment
