Why do they hate us so much?
GLBT people I mean. I was reading an article about the handful of gay couples who managed to get married before that Iowa judge stayed his ruling. Some pertinent quotes:

Republican House Minority Leader Christopher Rants said the ruling illustrates the need for a state constitutional amendment banning gay marriage.
"I can't believe this is happening in Iowa," Rants said. "I guarantee you there will be a vote on this issue come January," when the Legislature convenes.

Gov. Chet Culver left open the possibility of state action.
"While some Iowans may disagree on this issue, I personally believe marriage is between a man and a woman," the governor said.

I don't understand the loathing, the disgust, the happy justification of emotional cruelty. There are TONS of things that Christians consider "sinful" that are still perfectly legal, and they don't fight tooth and nail to get rid of those things. They aren't trying to legally ban divorce, lying, adultery, excessive alcohol use, "immodest" clothing, masturbation, or pornography. They give lip service to getting rid of such things, of course, but there aren't putting forth a massive, organized, nationwide effort to legally forbid those things to every citizen in the USA. Not like they are gay rights, gay marriage, gay happiness in general, gay EXISTENCE.

It hurts my heart and soul to know that so many people out there hate me and my GLBT brothers and sisters this much. Most of the time I handle it better than this, but I was SO HAPPY to hear that some gay couples found their happiness in marriage, and reading this type of vitriol just makes me want to weep for humanity.

We are so small, so tiny in the Universe, clinging to our ball of dirt and iron and water in the middle of a vast emptiness that's mind-numbing to try and comprehend. Why do we treat each other this way? We're all so alone out here in space, we have nothing but each other. We have NOTHING but each other. We're all family, in that respect. We shouldn't be hurting our family members. It just isn't right.

2. Therefore, it's not about the Bible or Christianity.

Yep. It's not their Bible telling them to persecute Teh Gay. That hatred is their own, and it is obviously way too much fun for them ever to stop.

4. Their "reality" is fear-based rather than love-based. They fear people...
who are not like them. The people who are still in the closet in reference to their homosexuality even fear themselves.

There is no freedom like what one gets when one decides not to live life in fear. Until they do this, they'll not change.

My heart and soul hurt for my GLBT sisters and brothers who deserve to be able to live their lives freely and openly like heterosexual citizens rather than being used as scapegoats.

5. I read somewhere that when the cold war ended and Falwell, robertson, etc...
could no longer scare people into sending money with the threat of "godless communists" that they cynically and deliberately chose to insert homosexuals and their "agenda" into the role of boogy man formerly played by communism.

I don't know if that's true but it wasn't too long after the Berlin wall fell that we had to start contending with talk of federal marriage amendments and fucking DOMA etc...

Why the sheep always let themselves get whipped into a hate frenzy by these scumbags I don't know.

6. they just use you as a target for their "christian" coalition voters
abortion and gay marriage are all that keeps that segment of the voters in the Republican side of voting.

If they actually "fix" either problem, there will be no issue left for them to run on.

So they keep the shit flowing, the fear flowing, and the lies flowing.

Power, money, power, money, power, money...

if there is a hell it will be filled with people (like politicos) that use terror and fear to get power and money and lie lie lie lie lie

I'd tell you not to take it personally but no way not to... this is war.

7. You might be having more fun than them.
Didn't you know that GAWD hates people who enjoy their lives?
You're supposed to suffer endlessly until the bitter end for your reward in heaven.

Or some such crap. :eyes:

8. I think it is a form of jealousy.
Hear me out.

I think that any person would be in awe of a committed gay couple who is willing to risk the societal scorn that is heaped upon them by the ignorant in order to be with their beloved.

That kind of devotion is pretty rare and a lot of couples couldn't stand up to the scrutiny.

JMHO. YMMV.

 to you and your munckin, B!
