2. I know ...isn't it great? |
|
I love these two musicians.
Reminds me of the collaboration between Mark Knopfler and Emmylou -- but maybe even better.

21. I wouldn't have heard of it --it was by accident |
|
I was listening to a progressive radio station out of Buffalo, and they played a great song that I immediately loved, but never heard of by John Fogerty. I researched that and found out Fogerty is releasing this song in a brand new new coming in October -- so I pre-ordered that. Out of curiosity I did a search on all not yet released work and there it was.
I hit the pre-order jackpot.

9. We used to see her play when she was too young to play in bars. |
|
Literally, her parents would be there so she could be playing these gigs with her band. The child was awesome even when she was a teen. She has one of the purest voices I have EVER heard.
I used to party with a guy that wrote a lot of her early stuff. (Not a close friend or anything but we used to hang out some.) I was good pals with a guy who played in quite a few bands with this guy, and I saw them play together in several different settings. Usually they were just playing for the cash--but sometimes the bands were really good.
I saw them play a few times with an Elvis impersonator that was absolutely awful. The impersonator got so drunk one time he passed out and fell off the stage. He laid on the dance floor while his band just kept on playing--totally unthrilled by it all. They finished the song and took a break.
I was absolutely blown away when I went over there one night and there was a freaking GRAMMY sitting on this guy's kitchen table. He was funny as hell talking about going to the Grammy awards and how he felt being in a room with all these high powered musicians given some of the bands he had been in over the years.
Makes me realize how out of touch I have been for the last few years--I haven't seen any of these guys in probably ten years or more...

16. I've been pretty curious about this disc |
|
thanks for posting that clip.
And in more Led Zep/Bluegrass news John Paul Jones produced Uncle Earl's latest CD and played with them at Merlfest I believe. He's also played with Chris Thile. Led Zeppelin drew heavily upon roots music so it doesn't surprise me too much that these guys are into bluegrass.

I just read this out loud to my husband (dueling laptops) and said, "Isn't he dead?"
He responded "Palmer, Palmer!"
Oh well, that might have been a good collaboration too. Maybe I should actually view the YouTube video before I make comments on it, eh?
ETA: Oh wow, oh wow, oh wow! I will soooooo be ordering this CD. I have to wait until October 23?! NOOOO!

I'll most likely forget about it by then, and one day I'll come home to it sitting in my backroom. It will be just like Christmas.

That's fanTAStic.
ed. after watching the video: That sounds great. It will be on my must-buy list for sure. I've been a big Robert Plant fan since seeing him in Led Zep's very first concert in the US in Denver, December 1968, I believe, before their first album even came out. Nobody even knew who they were, and they just blew us away.
We had gone to the concert to see Vanilla Fudge and Spirit. Who the hell are these Led Zeppelin guys?
