Bush 2004 Campaign Pledges To Restore Honor And Dignity To White House
BOSTON—Addressing guests at a $2,000-a-plate fundraiser, George W. Bush pledged Monday that, if re-elected in November, he and running mate Dick Cheney will "restore honor and dignity to the White House."

"After years of false statements and empty promises, it's time for big changes in Washington," Bush said. "We need a president who will finally stand up and fight against the lies and corruption. It's time to renew the faith the people once had in the White House. If elected, I pledge to usher in a new era of integrity inside the Oval Office."

1. You almost had me...
.. until I saw the link and saw it was The Onion.

Scary thing is I can actually think he'd say such things without realizing the irony.

2. is he giving this woman back her overtime?

WASHINGTON, DC—Deeming the move "regrettable but necessary," White House Chief of Staff Andrew Card announced Monday that Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao's work hours will be scaled back to 30 per week starting Jan. 26.

3. isnt that a retread of 2000?
Forgive my shortterm memory, but didn't he sell us that load of garbage in 2000? And then promptly let his brother defraud Florida and hand him the election? Didn't he take a one month vacation while a major attack was being planned then hide around the country while we were under attack?

Oh yea, he is the guy who said last year a whole pack of lies about Iraq which killed 500+ Americans.

You know what frustrates me? If a doctor makes a mistake (because that is what Bush is calling his lies) and kills one person he is under investigation. If he kills several patients, he looses his licence. Kill a few dozen and can be tried for murder. Bush kills 500+ citizens and what happens to him?

My daughter came home from school yesterday and she told me her teacher said that France was WRONG for not going into war with us and that they were cowards. I was so annoyed.

Using the same correlation. I hear there is a man in my neighborhood who is planning to set off a bomb. The source is reliable--gossip from another neighbor. I try to recruit my neighbors to help "get this guy" and they refuse. I kill the criminal. I find out later that he wasn't planning to set off the bomb. Here is where it falls apart-I'm guilty of murder. I should have let the authorities handle the issue. My defense can't be "well he had bad breath".

That is where G.B. messed up and why he should pay. I

4. The link is to The Onion, a satire web site
They're making the same point you are. They are making the point that he campaigned on all that in 2000, and as it turns out, didn't exactly live up to the billing. He's not really running on that theme this year, but the point is that someone other than Bush certainly could!

Sorry about that MsUnderstood, didn't mean to make you mad! I was doing like a fake LBN thread in the Lounge, linking to a fake news site.

You make good points all, though.
