Do you believe in ghosts? My ghost story |
|
22 years ago, I lived with a woman who died from cancer, before she died, she gave me a little pocket knife to be a remembrance. I've carried this with me since then, always in my right front pocket, even named it after her.
Recently, I came into possession of a buckeye, I put it in my right front pocket. I hadn't had it long, maybe a week, when I emptied out my pants one night to put a clean pair on the next morning.
The next day I'm putting on my pants, loading the usual things into the pockets, but lo and behold the buckeye is nowhere to be found. My little knife is right there where it should have been, but no buckeye.
I've torn the house apart since then trying to assure myself that I'm not losing my mind, but I can't find that damn buckeye anywhere. So, I'm wondering if a woman dead for over twenty years, could somehow be jealous enough to remove an object away from her memento. Wierd

Ghosts sometime linger around a house or something to which they are emotionally attached.

You hear about this sort of thing from time to time.
Like people mistakenly or on purpose throwing away an heirloom or something another family member prized, showing up back at their house.

deep brown with a lighter center, round and pleasing to the touch. There is an old folk tale that carrying a buckeye wards off arthritis.

a friend of mine has a ghost in her house. i watch her house when she's out of town. stuff has moved across tables and been knocked down off her mantle on several occasions when i've been there. it's pretty freaky to have it happen when you're in the house...believe me.

I have seen the ghost of a small child in my parents house in NH on several occasions. As have most of my family.
can something be moved by a spirit? Don't know.
Here's my true story.
I am laying in bed one night on the first floor of my parents house. At around 1am in the basement the radio on the tool bench suddenly turns on. The volume is going up and down slightly then the radio turned off. About forty minutes later the radio returned and it scared the shit out of me. Then it shut off and came back on ten minutes later. I went down stairs and unplugged the radio and could see that it had no batteries in it. Went back to bed and 20 minutes later it came on again and then abrubtly shut off for the night.
I think there are two kinds of people, Those who don't believe in ghosts and those who have seen and heard them.
Everyone in my family who lived or stayed in that house has a story to tell about the child ghost.

10. I might be more inclined to believe... |
|
if there was anything more than personal anecdotal evidence to support the existence of ghosts. It seems like lots of people have a "true story" to tell, yet even in this day and age, no one managed to grab a camcorder or camera to capture some real evidence.
I don't doubt that this was a real experience for you, I just doubt there is only a supernatural explanation.

11. if you can explain it to me another way I would love to hear it! |

I have felt the presense of something push me in the back, and also whisper sounds.
My youngest sister is 22 and when she was ten she told us about sitting on the top steps on the second floor and watching this child running around the first floor of the house on several occasions. She recently saw the child with a study group in early December 2003. As did three of the others.
I know you think thats crazy but you have to live there to believe it. As for camcorders et al, these things happen in an instant and are over before you can remember your name because you are so startled by it.
and for the record we never had a camcorder. I could list off at least a dozen more incidences from that particular house that have made a firm believer of me. The interesting part is there seems to be no connection to a child in that house. The previous two owners never had any children and the land was formerly grassland.

13. Children are very sensitive to supernatural phenomena |
|
Edited on Tue Jan-27-04 04:08 PM by Loonman
They don't have "filters" like adults do.
If you profoundly do not believe in ghosts, you most likely will never see one, because even if you do, you'll make up every excuse to dismiss what you witnessed as merely "inexplicable".
The haunting phenomena I've experienced was corroborated by 2 different people, who would have nothing to gain by lying.
Most hauntings are witnessed by overnight security officers and night watchmen, but go unreported, as no-one wants to be thought of as crazy or unreliable.

14. I don't think that's my responsibility. |
|
Those who propose a supernatural explanation should provide the evidence for it, IMO. The mind - even a healthy, normal one - has a very powerful ability to hallucinate in order to make sense of certain perceptions.

17. I would love to see a ghost, |
|
Or any evidence of existence beyond our current realm. I have invited them, invoked them, wished to have a revelation in dreams. I can't prove they don't exist, but I would like to have some evidence they do. Truly. There are people with whom I would love to communicate, but they are gone from our earth now.

19. No, but hallucinations will make it seem like it did. |
|
That's kind of the definition of a hallucination, of course.
By the way, if I told you I had a pet dinosaur in my basement, would you believe me, or would you want to see some proof?

I'm telling you I've torn this house apart, maybe if I called up homeland security and told them there was a wmd with iraqi markings in my house they'd come and find it for me.

I believe there must be something unexplained out there. On ghoststudy.com, there are also some pretty convincing pictures.
