I survived my first "official" earthquake in California this morning. |
|
The 4.7 rocker in Lake Elsinore.
I am still very freaked.

1. What made it official for you? |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-02-07 05:40 PM by Gormy Cuss
Did furniture fall over? Glassware or CDs leap from shelves? Big ass cracks in the the wall?
p.s. some Californians swear that the hot fall days are "earthquake weather."

2. What made it official is the tremor I felt was backed up by being reported on the snooze |
|
Still very freaked though.

Your heart starts racing, adrenaline's pumping and it takes a while to calm down. The worst one for me was when it felt like somebody was rollerblading on the underside of the floor.
I'm still a CA newbie chicken.;)

My husband thinks I am a nutbag (well I am, but not for freaking about the quake).

I've lived here for 2 years and haven't ever felt a thing.
Not that I'm complaining, mind you!

I called Peggy, and she had not felt it either.

We've had a couple about that size recently, but I've managed to be out of the state for both.

10. We felt it over here in Brea. |
|
It was my wife's first 'quake too. She was moderately freaked out, to the extent we spent a few hours buying the components of and assembling an "Earthquake Kit." So now we have water, food bars, blankets and first aid kits to keep our corpses company under the rubble.
As a survivor of the '71 San Fernando Valley quake, I feigned nonchalance at this latest tremble.

...the Quake Care website (www.quakecare.com) and then went out and bought the stuff they sell in their kits. It probably works out a bit cheaper than buying from them.

1 U-Haul truck
Enough gas to get back to Minnesota
2 books on tape
Put all your stuff in the truck, and combine with the gas and books-on-tape to hoof it back here before an earthquake turns you into chunky salsa! :P
What did Lewis Black say about Californian earthquakes? Something about how it was nature's way of telling you you live in a place where rodents should have sex and that's about it?

When you're a resident of the Archipelago of California, don't say that the ground didn't warn you!
On the plus side, all of the survivors will have beachfront property!
