Is it horribly evil of me to consider taking a supermagnet to the local goth club?
One of these big supermagnets, halfway down the page: http://www.unitednuclear.com/magnets.htm

Some imp of perverted scientific curiosity in me wants to see if it would drag nearby people toward me by their piercings (any in stainless steel, anyway), or if the pull would just rip the piercings out.

Don't get me wrong, I like my fellow geeks, goths, and social misfits, it's just that they have the most piercings, so they'd be the prime test group.

I suppose I could always test it at a hiphop club, but the amount of stainless steel piercings would probably be too low there.

1. I don't think the stainless steel used in most piercings is very magnetic.
But I have no magnets around to test it out.

A lot of piercings have titanium jewelry as well, so that wouldn't work either.

4. No, but if you get me one of those I can use it
for my Doomsday Device. Mwahahahahaha!

I kid of course. I'd need that AND a few feet of fiber optic cables. THEN it'll be done.

5. You could help the losers realize the true extent of their commitment to "goth"
once they're bleeding and screaming from ripped piercings.

I think it would be hilarious!

"What? You're goth. You're supposed to enjoy bleeding and pain, you jackass. Or is your image just fake and superficial like the rest of the world believes it is? Yeah, I thought so."

7. Goth has changed since I was gothic!
I don't recall piercings being a big deal with the gothic people a decade ago. I had my navel pierced, but it was small gauge and that was it. The "industrial" people had more piercings, I suppose. In general, I'd say to leave the goths alone, they have enough problems in general! Social alienation is a tough thing.
