I saw that in high school. I also remember going to school on the following Monday and everyone was raving about Uriah Heep's performance on the same episode. And they all hated the Dolls. Idiots.

What song(s) did they do on that episode? We used to listen to "Look At Yourself" all the time.

But I must confess, the first rock song I learned to play was Heep's "Easy Livin'"

I watch that clip religiously. New York Dolls were the high water mark of the genre simply known as rock-n-roll IMO. Bands before them were a bit tame for my taste, and bands after them played 'punk' or 'metal'.
