Movie sequels that were as good or better than the original
Edited on Mon Sep-03-07 06:35 PM by Va Lefty
To qualify movie had to have same name as original with number behind title (examples: Rush Hour II, Rocky V).

The Godfather II- at least as good if not better than the original
The Terminator II- better than the original. A great movie. Special effects were great at the time
Rocky III- the best of the Rocky movies, Mr. T was great as Clubber Lang

Let's hear your picks

3. Aliens and Terminator 2. And I'll tentatively agree with your pick of "Rocky 3".
Tentatively, because I'm not a big Rocky fan,
and have seen the films only once, years ago.

5. Lethal Weapon 2. Expanding Joe Pesci's role was a brilliant move, IMHO. nm

7. I can see that
at least as good as the original. It makes the short list.

14. Just realized it may not qualify for this thread. It wasn't called "Mad Max II" here in the States.
The OP specified "same name". :(

11. I thought Evil Dead 2 was better than Evil Dead. And Army of Darkness topped them both.
Although I don't really feel comfortable considering
AoD a "sequel", as it was so different from the first 2.
(Also, no "Evil Dead" in the title, so I guess it's
disqualified from this thread.)

I always suspected that it started as a standalone script,
and they simply made Ash the hero with a 15-minute rewrite.

17. AoD played up the yukes too much
Evil Dead II didn't force the humor.
