13. My Dad was a geologist
He worked for years and years as a statistician with the now-defunct Bureau of Mines. I guess I caught a little of his bug!

I studied geology with the Open University and the summer school
noticeboard was always a good opportunity to exercise comments about
bedding, cleavage and that old saw "it's not the size of your hammer
that matters, it's what you do with it!"
