Cripes, has the Tonight Show gone downhill...
Today Dennis Miller, tomorrow Fred Thompson.

I still like Jay Leno, he can still be pretty funny, especially in the "Headlines" or "Jaywalking" segments.

But who the hell picks the guests?

1. I used to be a loyal viewer
Leno is actually a pretty liberal guy as I understand it.

I usually tune in hust for the monologues and occasionally headlines. I prefer his style to that of Letterman's. The Late Show may have better interviews, but the comedy is better on NBC.

In regards to Miller, he's probably an old friend of Leno's. I'd say that people in comedy (and I use that term loosely when it comes to Miller) stick together. I guess Leno will get good ratings from Thompson's announcement. I totally don't get his "charisma". I doubt Leno's supporting him, but since they both work for NBC I guess he's in a bind.

2. Look, I don't agree with Dennis Miller's politics....
but how can you question whether he's a funny guy or not. Did you doslike him before he became a vocal republican?

I remember when my friends used to call Bill Maher the "Poor man's Dennis MIller." Now MIller has swiched parties and all of a sudden he's a hack comedian? I think he's gifted regardless of his political views.

4. Personally, I thought he sucked all along.
The RW switch doesn't help, though.

5. Well, I certainly understand that position.
I just can't get behind someone who disregards someone's entire body of work on political grounds alone.

6. True -- I think Robert Duvall is an amazing actor.
And he's a known Republican.

3. Fred Thompson is suppose to announce his candidacy on Leno
I prefer Letterman myself, but Leno runs a very green garage for his massive car collection. He uses non-toxic cleaning methods like ultrasonics, and he just installed a big wind turbine on his garage roof.
