Seinfeld fans: can you pinpoint your LEAST favorite episode?
I'd have to say 1995's "The Gum" is my least favorite. I liked the sight gags with Jerry wearing the glasses and George in the Henry VIII costume, but otherwise I thought the episode was pretty lame. What's your least favorite Seinfeld episode?

1. The series finale...
As much as it was hyped, it really wasn't all that entertaining.

2. And it'd never fly in a real courtroom
The judge would have sustained an objection to the cumulative nature of the witnesses' testimony as to bad character very early on! I liked that one and thought it was a clever way to showcase many of the popular characters, but you're right - it didn't really live up to the hype.

5. Same here
The finale was awful, though his prison monologue at the end was very funny.

I'm both suprised and appalled to find that I have an opinion on this.

And the finale was indeed horrible.

I first started watching Seinfeld when it had already been on for several years, and initially I did it pretty off-and-on before it became a show I watched almost daily for a couple of years. Anyway, the funny thing with that "body odor" car episode is that, I swear, of the first, probably, five, times I watched Seinfeld, three of the five times it was that episode. And since then I've only seen it maybe once in seven or eight years (of course I don't make a habit of watching Seinfeld reguarly like I used to, either). I kinda like that one because I associate it with first getting interested in the show, but I guess it's not exactly a "classic" episode! Well, apologies for all my rambling about the "car with b.o." show!

My (predictable) pick for least favorite would be the last episode, probably more than anything just because I had gotten my hopes up for it being the greatest Seinfeld of all time and I ended up more than a little disappointed.

ON EDIT: I should note that when I started watching it, it had already been on long enough that, although new ones were still being made, they were also running reruns on another channel. (That was how I was able to watch in daily. I just wanted to note that in case I wasn't making sense.)

6. The one where Jerry challenges his high school classmate to a race.
Supposedly, Jerry cheated in a race in high school with a classmate. They meet up years later and re-run the race. It was so unbelievably lame and unfunny.

And the series finale just may have been the worst series finale ever.

29. Wow. "The Race" would make a lot of fans top 10.
It's very close on mine. Kramer's Communist sympathies are particularly funny in that episode.

KRAMER: Each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

MICKEY: What does that mean?

KRAMER: Well, if you've got needs and abilities that's a pretty good combination.

MICKEY: So what if I want to open up a delicatessen?

KRAMER: There are no delicatessens under Communism.

MICKEY: Why not?

KRAMER: Well, because the meats are divided into a class system. You got Pastrami and Corned Beef in one class and Salami and Bologna in another. That's not right.

MICKEY: So you can't get Corned Beef?

KRAMER: Well, you know, if you're in the Politburo, maybe.

16. First season was pretty bad.
There were quite a few ninth season episodes that were really whacked out (Kramer covering himself with butter comes to mind) but then the ninth season did have a few gems like the car dealership one, Festivus, and the Puerto Rican Day Parade.

22. I loved the butter episode.

I think the main problem with the first season was the rhythm played very unlike a sitcom. I remember a scene between Elaine and Jerry that lasted nearly ten minutes, when later seasons would have knocked it down to 2-3.

The episode where the self-involvement went so far that it wasn't funny, just mean.

As far as The Finale goes, no episode with Jackie Chiles can be the worst ever.

Plus it was great seeing all those quest stars and minor characters back for one last huzzah!

30. and the reaction from all concerned when they learn she died
As I mentioned earlier, there's a point where self-involvement/indifference to others fails to be funny and the writers ran into it head on in that episode.

Come to think of it, any episode that dealt with George vs. the Susan Ross foundation pretty much ran into that problem as well.

32. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the "Backwards" episode, where
they go to India to attend the wedding of Sue Ellen Mischke and the guy that Elaine once had a fling with; they played the scenes in essentially reverse order. I did watch the episode again in syndication just a few weeks ago, and perhaps it wasn't quite that bad in retrospect.

The finale was such a crashing disappointment, but it's become almost cliched to bring up that one as the "worst" of the series...
