Insurance companies should NOT be allowed to practice medicine and overrule medical decisions made by doctors. x(

3. Same thing happened to me |

I had a perforated gastric ulcer and after a couple of months in hospital, I was given a medication that really worked. If my tummy started burning, I would take it and *poof*. Well, they weren't going to cover it anymore, so I had to start taking somthing else that doesn't actually treat gastric ulcer, my tummy burns all the time, and it makes my osteoporosis worse. :(

Ginbarn, that's horrible. :(

Stories like this just make me so angry and frustrated that the insurance industry hasn't been shut down for racketeering. x(

I know - I don't understand how they can get away with that, especially since they'll have to pay more money in the future to fix what they're breaking for doing this. Unless they think that if my health deteriorates enough, I'll have to leave work and they'll be off the hook.

12. I think that is exactly what they're expecting. |

I'm sure my insurance company is looking at my file and praying that I go out of disability and just go away.

5. this happens all the time with the doctors I work for |
|
patient does fine on one GERD medication but each insurance company has their own particular kickback, I mean preferred, medication. Constant letters and jumping through hoops to get people on the medication that works best for them.
People constantly angst about how awful it would be to have socialized medicine but I really can't see how it could possibly be worse for anyone (except the insurance companies themselves) than the insurance companies. At least the government wouldn't be out to deny care to make a buck. I think the attitudes of the doctors might be shifting because recently I've been hearing more grumbling than ever about corporate medicine, quotas and so forth. As a member of the uninsured portion of America, I hope we see change soon.

6. So you can definitely correlate the symptoms with ... |
|
... a lack of GERD?
Sounds like a bad case. :-(

When will somebody start making the case that "socialised medicine" is actually what you need?

try something more natural, try ginger capsules. Take it two or three times a day. Safe and no side effects. Worth a try.
