The head pat. The leg grab. What is going on? |
|
What is going on? This guy I work with pats my head. He pats me on my head. How does one respond to that? He also pats my shoulder, which is more normal, I think. It's the head pats that make me think, "You're a nutter, dude."
And then also, so I find someone who SEEMED like they understood the meaning of the word PLATONIC to go to the soccer game with... and he grabs my leg. I don't mean he laid his hand on my leg, which would have been sort of a more standard type of 'move'... no... he grabbed it. Like you would grab someone's hand if you were about to shake it. A firm grip. WTF is THAT about?!
Are these 'moves'? I doubt my co-worker is making moves on me. I don't know what his deal is. He also alternates between two methods of announcing his presence every time he walks by my desk. He either blows his raspberry or he goes "buhlabalabalabalaba". Those noises he makes also lead me to believe he may be slightly loopy.
I just had to share that. These things make me feel confused and slightly scared.

1. Unless you happen to be a labrador, the head pat is not appropriate. |

3. The coworker is just a bit strange |
|
but he could be harmless.
The leg grab is totally inappropriate and aggressive.

He's not so bad. Just worryingly weird.
He also brings me chips, which sounds nice, but it really isn't. It's one of those 'good intentions' things.

Hmmmm.....yeah, not so appropriate. Doesn't sound like he's hitting on you though.
Regarding the leg grab: I'd say that unless he's wont to do that with all his friends (unlikely), he's probably using that as a move (albeit a strange one).

And yes... not exactly a platonic thing, the strange leg grab move.

8. I know what platonic means |
|
regardless or whether I actually mean it or not.
It sounds like your co-worker likes you, but he's twelve. Do you work in a middle school? This is vital information.
And maybe the leg-grabbing thing was just a different culture thing, like men holding hands in Saudi Arabia? Then again, was he a dog? Dogs are known to enjoy biting legs.

He is not twelve, he is in his late 30's/early 40's. He is also married. So... I *reeeeally* want to believe it's not a 'move'. I like to put the word 'move', used in this context, in single quotes. I don't know why.
The leg grabber also patted my bottom. So... I sort of doubt it was so much a culture thing.

17. I recommend a few "Oh, I'm SO sorry! I didn't know it was YOU!" back-hands. |
