3. Just so I have a reference point here, what did you think of "Unforgiven" ?
3:10 looks good to me, from the ads...but I really
don't see many movies without a personal recommendation
anymore.

4. Unforgiven was straight forward, they did not know bad till they ran into...
William Munny after trying to be good. It was shot flat as grit not splashy like say Open Range, which I also liked but had those 'gee life used to be great' sweeps, big sky, rain dropping from the skies "way off yonder" that they had to go to Canada to still get.

Unforgiven was as I say flat-grit, liked the inclusion of the .10ct novelette gunslinger stuff with Rubinek as the writer: W.W. Beauchamp, Harris (who could've read from the Yellow Pages he was so wonderful) as: English Bob, no...

They were all trying to forget, some with success, others taking their 'mean' on the road, others as sheriffs; but the wild, lawless, pointless sense of it all seemed right there up till the last scene with Munny riding out of town in the black of night drenched with sheets of rain. In fact that final scene seems hand-held and sort of jitters like the 'observer' is being butted by the elements as well.

What do I think of Unforgiven, ds? I think it's a masterpiece of western genre. Part of what Leone refers to when speaking on westerns as: 'American Surrealism'

Will Munny: You better bury Ned right! Better not go cuttin' up, nor otherwise harm no whores. Or I'll come back and kill every one of you sons-o-bitches.

But the new 3:10 to Yuma should be out on Netfix before too long so there's that :hi:

7. Thanks, bridgit! I appreciate you taking the time to tell me all that.
If that's what you think of "Unforgiven", then I
feel safe paying to see "3:10" on the big screen,
just on the strength of your recommendation.

"Deserve" has got nothing to do with it.

8. Ah, westerns, my alltime favorite genre...I grew up on them.
I'm looking forward to seeing 3:10 to Yuma. Darn few westerns being produced, and even fewer good ones.

High Noon, Stagecoach, Winchester 73, Lonesome Dove (I know it was a mini-series, but awesome) are just a few of my favorites.

plenty; but felt all along that Duvall has been the best 'trail boss' in the business for some time now so in the end he loved it, he got into it :hi:
