IT FREAKING SUCKS

the puppy we were suppose to get this weekend has died.

it was attacked by another dog at the shelter. three other puppies and a couple of kittens were also killed...

laid off in March
total my car a week later
smash my new car against a phone pole in July to avoid a head-on collision
lose our 11 yr old Airedale to kidney failure last month
my partner will be laid off from her job at the end of September
now this...

send good luck charms or something to ward off the freaking bad luck

maybe he did -

my partner was online at petfinders after getting the news - she put in the search criteria for puppy x-large-female and the first page that popped up was all Great Pyrenees pups...

meanwhile....

I tried calling the shelter, but the line was busy - so I e-mailed saying we were sorry for losing our pup before we even got her, offered my condolences for what must have been a horrific event.

Told the woman we were still interested in adopting a large breed pup, and if she comes across one to please let us know.

Almost immediately I got an e-mail back - a shelter in Ohio contacted her just this morning with three Great Pyrenees pups, purebred, pet quality - need homes - they asked if she could take them.

She said she could work out transport and all of that for us if we were interested.

so I called my partner, forwarded the e-mail to her. Yes, she's interested (as am I)

ennywho, we'll give her a call tonight and see what's up with the pups

oh yeah, I got my car back today all fixed up nice. They did a good job. YEAA!

11. maybe this new pup is really the one meant for you

I was supposed to adopt a kitten that had been abandoned at one point and it died from flea infestation before I could ever get him but that meant I was available to adopt a 3 week old kitten a week later who's mother had died.
She was with me for 18 years after that and was a great friend. I had always thought I was a dog-person before that, boy was I wrong. I've now been happily cat-owned for over 20 years.

12. it's looking that way more and more

last night by chance - my partner caught one of the women on-line, she works with the shelter helping out with transport and coordinating adoptions.

they had a long talk, the woman said she would help get things moving quickly. Apparently, this litter of pups isn't even at the Ohio shelter yet, suppose to be dropped off this week. She's going to contact the ohio shelter today.
