fsc and reprehensor-- The Adventure Begins! |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-06-07 06:16 AM by fudge stripe cookays
So some of you know that after 37 years, I am finally leaving Texas for colder climes.
We WERE going to head for Alberta, but the cost of real estate and the cost of living there has gotten outrageous the last few years, so we decided to compromise on Wisconsin.
This way: 1. I won't have to deal with the unadulterated HELL of constant 100 degree Texan summers! 2. I can finish my genealogy book, where most of the places I need to research and cousins I need to visit are in Wisconsin or neighboring states! 3. I can vote for Russ Feingold!
We depart today for Milwaukee, where I start my new job on Monday! :D First night in Little Rock, then St. Louis. Saturday we should pull into town in the evening sometime. I found a cute little place near Wauwatosa.
reprehensor is staying up for a couple days to help me get settled in and help the pets acclimate while I'm at work, then he's heading home to try to sell our house. We'll be living apart for awhile-- hopefully not TOO long. Our realtor was REALLY impressed with all the improvements I've made to the house. Wish us luck!
:hi: I'll try to check in from the road. fsc

3. Molly is enjoying what will turn out to be... |

the last of the Gecko-vision she gets to see.
She loves to sit on the side of our jacuzzi tub in the master bath and watch all the geckos on the window who come there to eat the moths attracted to the light.
She is going to be SO pissed.

I know all about dealing with an uncomfortably hot climate. I think you tend to get higher temperatures over there than we do, but we've got ocean on both sides so we probably have worse humidity. :)

Not just Wisconsin. Think of all the states that are so close (compared to Texas, anyway, where it takes you a day or 2 just to leave the state!) :D

We actually talked about taking you two out for one last authentic Tex-Mex meal, but I guess it wasn't meant to be.
If the two of you come back to Texas, however, please give us a heads-up.
Best to both of you!

30. We SERIOUSLY wanted to have a DU outing before we left... |
|
but EVERY SINGLE DAY we have been working our butts off getting the house ready, to the point where we can't move at night we're so exhausted.
Al is coming back, at least for a couple months to get the house sold. If it takes awhile, there will be weekend flights back and forth. There's still a chance!
:D
Miss ya'll too.
