It don't seem fair, somehow.

2. Are the meds for depression?
If so, maybe a change to new meds will help.

4. No, it's not fair.
Have you ever had talk therapy, instead of just meds?
BTW, I identify with you. Depression is a constant battle for me, despite a healthy life style.

5. Have you tried cognitive therapy?
When I had a major depression about 20 years ago, they never could find a med that helped me. In addition to doing what you're doing with diet, exercise, etc., my doctor tried cognitive therapy as a kind of last result, and it actually worked. I thought going into it that it was the most artificial thing I'd ever tried, but damned if it didn't work.

If you want to check it out, doctors (mine did) usually recommend Dr. David Burns' book "Feeling Good" as a starting point.

Slightly complicating the matter is the fact that I moved not long ago, and must unearth a competent psychiatrist in the west LA county/east VC area.

27. clinical depression has nothing to do w. any of that, it's a brain imbalance
and it does seem unfair, i wish i knew what to tell you

you have my personal permission to smack the next person who tells you to exercise and eat healthy upside the head, plenty of people who don't do any of that crap are not affected by clinical depression

as far as "avoiding stressors," the life w.out challenge is not a life worth living, so that's just bogus crap and the doctor should have been embarrassed to trot out that old bug-a-boo -- we'd all be depressed if stress made us depressed this time of century

Scientology is full of hugs, if you want them. Just be careful when they hug you...they're probably going to try to pat you down for change.
