Poll question: With prescription allergy medications, I can live with a cat.
So, do I get a short-haired black kitten for free and potty train and neuter it?

Or another parrot and live with the poo and clownish antics and not need prescription meds?

10. All prescription meds have side effects.
I don't think you should do it. I think you should hold out for a human.
Or a dog....are you allergic to them?

12. LOL
All the allergy tests claim I'm worse with cats than with dogs, but in practice, I'm far worse with dogs when it comes to allergic reactions.

But you're right... I know my dad takes allergy meds for things and he still has problems, but he loves his two cats... but he has breathing problems too. :(

13. don't do it, toad, it's a BIG mistake -- my family's experience inside
Edited on Thu Sep-06-07 07:49 PM by pitohui
that's what my brother thought, and his allergy has now progressed to asthma and he is at a very high risk for heart disease

plus the cats are now older so he can't give them away unless he is willing to have them put down

if you have an allergy to cats that can be relieved only by Rx meds, you have a very severe allery, and you should not be living with them

period

get another bird

the doctor who gave you this advice should be ashamed to look at himself in the mirror, he is actually hurting people's health with this crap and he must know it if he's treated any serious number of allergic patients at all -- reading further, i see a nurse told you this, well this nurse should be disbarred frankly, this is very irresponsible advice

all meds have side effects, and allergy meds only imperfectly control symptoms caused by allergy to cat dander, an allergy i share, you will be sick more, you will be sick longer, and ultimately you won't live as long because of the asthma/heart disease complications -- not worth it for a damn cat!
