6. You can buy Laura Branigan CDs at Circuit City
But you'll have to show your receipt on the way out.

9. No Circuit City is the new Wal-Mart.
At my Wal-Mart the greeter checks receipts on the way in and the way out.

10. I'm not sure that's a bad idea
Heard on NPR about a month ago (a stupid criminal trick) a guy switched price tags on a Slim Jim with a flat screen TV and checked himself out at one of the self checkout machines paying the Slim Jim price for a big ole TV. He was caught when the greeter checked his receipt on the way out. Regardless of one's opinion of Wal-Mart that was nothing but theft.

11. I don't see how that could happen
Not calling you a liar but wondering about the accuracy of the story. Self-checkouts are generally set up so that you put the item in a bag that weighs it - if the weight doesn't match the computer's description of the item, it flags it.

Large items are checked by store personnel.

14. Well, Home Depot does, too
I don't know for sure about others but they've got to have some sort of way of ensuring accuracy. I would think.
