Here's a perfect example - the Mazda6. The new European model looks fucking amazing.

But here's a highlight from the article:

Unfortunately, the U.S. model, which may see the light of day at either November’s L.A. auto show or the Detroit auto show in January, will wear different sheetmetal. We're also told that it could ride on a completely different platform that the Euro-spec car. According to Mazda, this is because the North American car needs to “look bigger.” Car buyers, it says, think the current car looks too small in relation to other mid-size sedans.

3. I watch a few British car tv shows you can download and Ford makes some lovely
cars over there. Functional, stylish, modern - they even said their new wagon was a far better value than the similar Benz and Volvo models for actual ease of use and convenience.

Will it be sold over here? Hell no. People "need" their SU-fucking-Vs.

7. I drove a Ford Focus for awhile in the UK.
It was fast, powerful, agile and well-equipped. When I got back to the States I test drove a Focus over here. I asked the dealer if the car had been in a crash. It felt flabby, grossly underpowered and very cheaply made. Shortly afterward, I rented a Taurus that rattled and squeaked like a haywagon. Ford make good cars in Europe (take a look at the current Mondeo). It's a pity they make such junk over here.

13. There's some sweet Ford and GM cars that will unfortunately never make it here.
The Saturn Astra is a good example.

4. Not dumbed down, that's puffed up. This is the land of super size, of nuclear reactions to minor
aggravations. We are big, large, and silly. So they revamp the cars to fit us.

10. George Carlin had a bit on his last special..
about how everything in America is king sized, extra large, and super jumbo. So I think that proves his theory.

15. And why 290 million people could tell you who won the Super Bowl the last twenty years
but only about 18 people could identify a single Pulitzer or Nobel winner from the past 50 years, or even identify after whom those awards are named.

12. I am not a big fan of the Mazda 6 but that is ridiculous
I think you can blame our SUV obsession. We have to have "big" cars because of the perception that bigger = safer. Well it is if you get into a crash with an SUV or truck, which will destroy your little car.

I have a Mazda 3, by the way, which I love.
