Has anyone successfully opted out of credit card solicitations?
I receive 3 or 4 pre-approved credit card applications per day. I shred the applications and recycle the rest with the newspapers and magazines, but I am weary of dealing with these offers.

This website seems to have a lot of good information about cutting down on credit card offers, junk mail, and solicitor calls.

What I'm wondering is if there are any unwanted side effects of opting out? Recycling may be preferable, I don't know.

4. Oh good, they can help with mail for deceased relatives, too.
My father has been dead for over 30 years, and he never lived here, yet he still gets mail! Thank you. :hi:

2. I used the "opt out" website.
I no longer get ANY credit card offers. Don't worry, if you want to get stupid about money management you can always "opt back in".

3. what wccross said: go here--

Works like a charm. For five years that is. To make it permanent you need to mail in your request.

6. Don't shred or throw away those prepaid envelopes
After tearing out my name, address, bar codes, etc, I stuff all the crap back in the prepaid envelope and send it back. I even include some other pieces of junk mail that they might enjoy, and can real at their own leisure.
