HELP! I Gotta Car Mechanical Issue |
|
Yesterday on my way to work I crossed on intersection where the street I was crossing over had pavement built up much higher than the road I was on. As a result, I bottomed out - HARD. I noticed right away there seems to be something wrong with my steering. It's a subtle difference but something definitely isn't right. It feels like the front wheels were whacked out of alignment or something.
Anyone know what might have happened and if it's dangerous to drive like this? I can't get a mechanic to look at it until the earliest Monday morning, but I have to be at work at 3pm on Monday and may need to either drive the car as is or not go to work (a rental car is out of the question).

1. It could be any of several things |

The wheels might be out of alignment (not so dangerous) or you could have a loose or broken tie rod (very dangerous).
I was driving around for months with a bad wobble in my front wheel because my great, honest mechanic had suddenly moved (he was pushed out by a "connected" neighboring business) and I lost his new number. When I finally got his number by fortuitously meeting his old landlord, I took the car in.
When Angelo first drove it with me he said, "holy shit!" After analyzing it though, honest Angelo told me he was surprised to discover it was just uneven wear on the tires. So even exposing or creating a tire flaw could do it.
There's really no way of knowing without having it inspected.
