I QUIT!

Well I came in on my day off Friday and turned in my two week notice. I quit my job.

Things have been pretty bad around here lately, that’s about all I can say about it. 6 months ago or so I realized that I needed to get out of here. This was before things OFFICIALLY and legally got bad around here (no worries for me I am the only one completely in the right here) so I dedicated myself to losing weight (no one wants to hire a 40 year old fat slob) and then walk away. I posted a resume on Monster in July the day before our vacation started and I applied for some local jobs. 5 weeks later I got a call – One interview (for two positions), one job offer, 20% raise—YAY ME!!!

Good job too. Stable operation. They called me a week ago-I interviewed on Wednesday-they offered on Thursday-and I accepted in the midst of a 10 mile run on Friday (talk about multitasking!....okay okay die yuppie scum I know I know).

So not only do I move into a new phase of my professional life I also pretty much end my time here on DU. I can’t imagine that I will have the opportunity to “DU” as much as I do now and for all that I have learned here and all the people that I have “met” here that is probably for the best. I am sure that I will still be able to check in from time to time but like others I will become a nighttime and weekend DU’er for the most part. I can not state how appreciative I am of what I have had presented to me here, truly life changing. I have come to realize to deal in the facts not the rhetoric. I see a entirely different history than the one that I was taught and I have developed quite a bullshit detector all thanks to you liberal left wing crazy blogosphere netroots types. Ain’t it crazy what happens when people start talking to each other? I could go on an on but I thank Skinner and elad and EarlG as well as all the DU’ers over the last 6 years that imparted knowledge and some really funny stuff to me. I got married on DU and we had a baby on DU and in between tried to stop a war and elected yet another unseated President.

Thanks DU-wise and otherwise. My wife thanks you too but the lashing I took for the Russert thing and the one single offhand comment on the “McDonald’s coffee lady” still stings :evilgrin:




Now, the only thing I have left to do is figure out how to get this MASSIVE stash of rubberbands that I have accumulated out of my office without anyone noticing…. :hide: :bounce::woohoo: the tunnel is nowhere NEAR completed.

I went through something similar a couple of years ago, and it also involved going from a job that had plenty of time to DU to one that left me with not nearly as much time. (Unfortunately, the move didn't involve a 20% raise :toast:) The addiction, though, is not so easy to break, and so hopefully you'll still be around plenty on nights and weekends :)

As for myself, I couldn't leave my DU buddies after getting to know them over the years.
